Our opaque black bags are black on both sides, and block 100% of UV rays that could potentially damage coffees, particularly during longer storage periods. Still the same quality as our gold bags, same valve mechanism, same exact design.

Weve looked at quite a few ziplock bags from different manufacturers, these are the best ones available. Many of the pouches weve looked at were shoddy construction, not completely sealed valves, and most were difficult to get a proper seal on the zip. These bags are top quality, not cheap reproduction clones. Also make great coffee gift pouches during the holidays.

These bags eliminate the problem of pressure completely, with a built-in one way air valve, which only allow gas to pass out of the bag, and will not allow oxygen to enter backwards into the bag, which greatly serves to maintain the coffees freshness.

The Problem:
Even after coffee is roasted, the beans continue to release CO2 gasses, which if not properly vented can give the coffee a gassey aroma and flavor. Unvented ziploc bags can actually blow up like a balloon after filling with freshly roasted coffee, and the more coffee they hold, the more pressure is generated. Sealed coffee bags which are unvented, often blow open after being stored due to the pressures caused from the release of the gas. The more oxygen the coffee is exposed to, the faster it loses its aroma and freshness.

When sizing the correct bag for your application, please keep in mind that coffees vary greatly in weight, density, size of bean, roast level, and a few other factors that determine how much of a particular bean a bag will hold. Our published weights for bag capacities are based off of average common coffees.
