This #4 Porcelain wedge shaped coffee filter cone holder sits nicely atop most coffee mugs and thermoses, for a direct brew-in cup experience. Made from hard vitrified porcelain, this is not your typical plastic coffee filter cone!

Just set the cone on top of your cup, use either a paper filter, or one of our SwissGold #4 filters - shown below, add coffee, and hot water!

When using a paper filter, you will need to use a medium grind coffee to allow for proper filter drainage, when using a permanent metal filter, the grind size is less critical due to the better drainage. The unit has one drainage hole in the bottom of the cone, approximately 1/4" dia.

We have placed this filter cone on our website in amongst our Swissgold filters, as although its not actually gold plated, it IS a perfect match to be used with the Swissgold #4 cone filter. These units are made from high quality hard porcelain refractory, fired at a whopping 2372 degrees for extra hardness, and are especially great if you are looking to eliminate plastic from coming in contact with your daily brew.

Manufactured in Germany, in the city of Solingen, world renowed for their high quailty steel production.

We recommend pre-heating these units with hot water before making your cup of joe to bring the unit up to temperature so your coffee stays as hot as you like it!

When you are looking for just one cup of coffee or a little more, our selection of single cup coffee filter are simple and effective! These are NOT gold toned filters, they are actually made of 23k Gold plated stainless steel microscreen. We stock a complete line of 23k Gold filters to fit all coffee makers. No other permanent filter on the market compares to these Swissgold Swiss crafted 23k Gold plated coffee filters, which are designed to allow the natural oils of the coffee to infiltrate into your brew, adding a level of flavor and aroma you wont find with paper coffee filters. In addition, they serve to eliminate waste during the coffee brewing process, and sure come in handy when you cant get to the store to purchase paper filters!

The Pour over method of coffee brewing remains the most widely used method, and provides a simple and efficient way to brew a great cup, without the hassles associated with some other methods of coffee brewing.

Although the most primitive way of pour over brewing is the manual method, it can often be used with the right parameters to produce an outstanding cup!

The pourover coffee brewing method is simple, where the ground coffee is dosed into a permanent or paper filter, then water at an optimal temperature - heated to ~201 degress Fahrenheit - is poured over the grounds, and through the filter, and into your coffee vessel. The temperature of the water during a brew is critical, to ensure the coffee aromas and oils are properly extracted, without over extracting the bitter proteins and solids that are contained within the bean. Another critical factor in a good cup is to ensure the proper amount of time water is in contact with your coffee grounds, also to make sure the bitter proteins dont get extracted.

An optimally designed electric brewer should have all of these factors narrowed down into an automatic cycle that always ensures the proper temperature, and flow rates to achieve the optimal extraction. Manual pour over brewers are more a bit of an art, that with a little practice can produce great results, at usually much less cost, although less convenient than electric brewers.
