The new Gene Cafe Roaster by Genesis is a refreshing addition to our Home Coffee Roaster selection, as it fills a void for a roaster with a larger capacity, at a more economical price than what was previously availabe. After testing this roaster extensively, we have decided this roaster is definitely worthy of putting on our shelves! We think this roaster is one of the best we have seen in a while, judging both quality of the units construction, and the quality of the final product it produces. One of the best features as far as we are concerned is the lack of a high speed mechanism to keep the beans agitating, which provides a consistent roast. The Gene Cafe roasting drum incorporates an off-axis rotation method of agitation,
which is the newest method we have seen in new roasters. The drum rotates at a slow RPM, while hot air is slowly circulated from right to left through the drum, and across the churn plate, providing both convective and radiant roast methods for a more consistent roast. The Gene Cafe roast controls offer a fully variable roast environment, allowing for both temperature and roast time changes... on the fly! One thing we have noticed is the cooldown time takes a bit longer than similar roasters, so just adjust your roast times accordingly, and allow extra time for the cooldown to get the roast of your choice. Whether you are a home coffee roaster looking for a starter roaster, or you prefer a larger capacity roaster, we have one to fit your need! Hot Air type Home Coffee Roasters are fairly new to the home roasting scene, and produce very good results. The Beans are circulated in a whirl-wind of hot air, which gives the Beans no other choice other than to... well, start roasting. Capacities of Hot Air type home roasters and roast times vary greatly from one unit to the next. From the fully programmable Hearthware I-Roast 2, to the more simple timer type roasters, whichever you choose, were sure youll enjoy the results.
