Hearthware has discontinued the original I-Roast model Coffee Roaster, please see the new and improved I-Roast 2!
As seen in
Hearthware went to painstaking measures to ensure this unit was ready for the home roasting market. The I-Roast has many built-in features that have been sought after by home roasting novices & enthusiasts alike. Read further to know about some of these features.
The units come equipped with two factory programmed presets, allowing slightly varying roast curves giving you the choice of which you prefer. In addition to the pre-slect roasting curves, the I-Roast also allows complete 3-stage programming in which you have the flexibility to control temperature, and time in all three stages of roast. Find a bean that you like a roasted a certain way? Program the curve, and use that curve again, and again for consitent roast batches. No other home coffee roaster has ever packed this much umph into a home coffee roasting unit!
The heavy-duty motor has two RPM speeds, which it automatically oscillates between during its cycle. The pattern of the airflow, which is a patented design, gives the flow of beans a "fountain" action when the unit kicks in to its higher RPM 2nd speed. This serves both to displace the hotter beans that are floating in the "roast column", so the cooler beans that are floating outside of the "roast column" can enter and have their chance to roast a bit hotter, and to help maintain a consistent chamber temperature. Based on internal temperatures, the unit "shifts" gears to the higher RPM, and maintains the higher RPM until the units senses the units internal temperature is getting to low, then once again, shifts into low RPM stage & starts the heat process all over, throughout the duration of the roast cycle..
