If you go through your pot fairly quickly, as in a busy office environment, the need for a unit with a thermal carafe may be over-kill. When brewing a great cup of coffee, its important that the water is at an optimal temperature of 200F before introducing the water to the coffee grounds, which ensures proper extraction.
